THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS OF CONTRA COSTA COUNTY, CALIFORNIA

SUBJECT: Adopt Salary Reallocations for the classifications of Deputy County Counsel Basic,
Standard, and Advanced (2ETH, 2ETJ, 2ETK), Civil Litigation Attorney Basic, Standard, and
Advanced (2ETE, 2ETF, 2ETG), and Deputy Public Defender Ill and IV (25TB, 25TA)
THE CONTRA COSTA COUNTY BOARD OF SUPERVISORS, in its capacity as governing Board
of the County of Contra Costa and all districts of which it is ex-officio governing Board RESOLVES
THAT:

I. Effective January 1, 2008 Contra.Costa County will implement the following reallocations on the
Salary Schedule:
—Deputy County Counsel — Basic (2ETH) from B82 1812 ($6,490.59-7,715.28) to B82 1897
($7,060.50-8,392.71)
—Deputy County Counsel — Standard (2ETJ) from B82 2012 ($7,912.00-9,404.88) to B82 2097
($8,606.71-1.0,230.67)
—Deputy County Counsel —Advanced (2ETK) from B82 2212 ($9,644.69-11,464.51) to B82
2297 ($10,491.54-12,471.14)
—Civil Litigation Attorney— Basic (2ETE) from B82 1812 ($6,490.59-7,715.28) to B82 1897
($7,060.50-8,392.71)
—Civil Litigation Attorney— Standard (2ETF) from B82 2012 ($7,912.00-9,404.88) to B82 2097
($8,606.71-10,230.67)
—Civil Litigation Attorney—Advanced (2ETE) from B82 2212 ($9,644.69-11,464.51) to B82
2297 ($10,491.54-12,471.14)
In lieu of a retroactive pay increase, the County will make a "lump sum payment" to each eligible
employee, not including those who have retired or terminated, without back interest, for the period
of January 1, 2008 through and including April 30,.2008, computed as follows:
The employee's regular pay and hourly-based earnings, including overtime pay and other earnings
computed as a percentage of base pay, will be added together for each applicable pay period to
determine an appropriate pay base. This pay base will be multiplied by 8.78% (eight point seventy-
eight percent).
The product of that calculation will be added to.the employee's June 10, 2008 paycheck where it
will be listed separately as "Lump Sum Pay". The "lump sum pay" amount will then be included in
the calculation of the employee's required deductions such as taxes and retirement.

II. Effective January 1, 2008 Contra Costa County will implement the following reallocations on the
Salary Schedule:
—Deputy Public Defender,lll (25TB) from JD5 2079 ($8,206.4479,974.98) to JD5 2146
($8,769.31-10,659.15)
In lieu of a retroactive pay increase, the County will make a "lump sum payment" to each eligible
employee, not including those who have retired or terminated, without back interest, for the period
of January 1, 2008 through and including April 30, 2008, computed as follows:
The employee's regular pay and hourly-based earnings, including overtime pay and other earnings
computed as a percentage of base pay, will be added together for each applicable pay period to
determine an appropriate pay base. This pay base will be multiplied by 6.85% (six point eight-five
percent).
The product of that calculation will be added to.the employee's June 10, 2008 paycheck where it
will be listed separately as "Lump Sum Pay". The "lump sum pay" amount will then be included in
the calculation of the employee's required deductions such as taxes and retirement.
III. Effective January; 1, 2008 Contra Costa County will implement the following reallocations on the
Salary Schedule:
-Deputy Public Defender IV (25TA) from JDX 2222 ($9,430.20-12,042.75) to JDX 2248
($9,676.12-12,356.80)
In lieu of a retroactive pay increase, the County will make a "lump sum payment" to each eligible
employee, not including those who have retired or terminated, without back interest, for the period
of January 1, 2008 through and including April 30, 2008; computed as follows:
The employee's regular pay and hourly-based earnings, including overtime pay and other earnings
computed as a percentage of base pay, will be added together for each applicable pay period to
determine an appropriate pay base. This pay base will be multiplied by 2.6% (two point six
percent).
The product of that calculation will be added to the employee's June 10, 2008 paycheck where it
will be listed separately as "Lump Sum Pay". The "lump sum pay" amount will then be included in
the calculation of the employee's required deductions such as taxes and retirement.
