SENIOR OUTREACH SERVICES

WHEREAS, Meals on Wheels of Contra Costa County has 700 volunteers who actively participate in
programs each month; and
WHEREAS, Meals on Wheels is a public and private coalition of charitable nonprofit organizations
expanding throughout Contra:..Costa:County in iirovidi_ng services and delivering nutritious
meals to frail seniors unable, oleave`theirovmes;.and
WHEREAS, Meals oii Wheels,supports hoi>>ebound ,elde.rs in maintaining an independent lifestyle
and enables their to'hold ontii their sense of dignity, pride; and`self-worth; and
WHEREAS,.;.Meals on Wheels is the only, organization. actively raising,'.-funds to bridge the gap
between government fundi 11 and the needs of older Adult :residents, to obtain nutritious
meals; and
WHEREAS, private contributions are used to purchase thousands ofadditiiial meals that are
delivered to Meals on Wheels rorrani artici ants' and .

WHEREAS, Meals on Wheels Mut teers have been,serving.the., needs of Contra Costa County's
fragile seniors since;1068; an
WHEREAS;"volunteers bring, wartil smiles; carini4, hearts;: :a' nd''cheerf 1; attitudes, brightening the
day of hoi rebound seniors,throughout-Contra Costa Codi ty; and

WHEREAS, the more.than 700 jJ61 tiers whose committed and dedicated efforts provide food,
friendship; and service to ; o many of our citizens are..`deserving of our gratitude, our esteem,
and public acclaim;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE,-IT RESOLVED that the,Contra Costa County Board of Supervisors join
the Meals on Wheels Senior Outreach Services irr i�ecogniziiig the 700 volunteers who actively
participate in the exceptional senior programs each month.
