IN THE MATTER OF HONORING RESOLUTION NO. 2008/294
OAK GROVE MIDDLE SCHOOL .
ON THE OCCASION OF ITS
50TH ANNIVERSARY,APRIL 30,2008
WHEREAS, Oak Grove Intermediate School opened its doors on October 27, 1958, serving a student
population of Seventh and Eighth Graders; and
WHEREAS, the first Principal of Oak Grove Interinediate School, Joe ilauner, served from 1958 until his
death in 1972; and
WHEREAS, the second Principal, Bill Smith, served from.. 1972 until his retireineiit iil 1982, when the Board
of Education Honored Mr. Smithw.itli tlie.'B' iii District%for:Tarent Communication'; and
WHEREAS, Sandra Buckserved-as:;Principal from,19824 ir6ugh:1984; and

WHEREAS, in 1985, under I'riiicipal:;:;Mar1c.:Q'Brien, sixth. graiiers:::arrived, prompting the school to change
its name to Oak:;Giov;e Middle'Schoo-1 and .......
WHEREAS,from-1986 through'1.987.John Damolian served as Pri_nc pal;.and
WHEREAS, Dr: Audrey Waginan..became Principal in 1988, impleirieiiting.m`ore,hands-on, active learning
projects;and remained untillshe retired in 2002; and _...
WHEREAS;; Oak Grove Middle School began::its emphasis on diversity during"the 1.990.7s with Multi-
Cultural Career :Days, which brought in a wide va..iaety of..speakers,.!7 This.:proud tradition continues
today .,with; the annual Multi-Cultural Celebration; with support .from:. the ;;Monument Corridor

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that: of Supervisors hereby congratulates and honors
the Administration, Faculty, Staff, and Students Grove Middle School, on the occasion of its
