IN THE MATTER OF COMMENDING NINE RESOLUTION NO. 2007/257
CONTRA COSTA COUNTY STUDENTS FOR BEING
RECOGNIZED AS CALIFORNIA ARTS SCHOLARS
WHEREAS, Contra Costa County recognizes the contributions of The Arts and Culture Cotmnission in
advancing the arts in ways that promote communication, education, appreciation and
collaboration throughout Contra Costa County, including the honoring of students of exemplary
artistic achievement; and
WHEREAS, the California State Summer School'forfithe Arts (CSSSA) was established to help prepare
talented high school students-for careers m the arts and entertainment industries; and

WHEREAS, more than 9,000':young=Cahforniaar`fists;-who iepresent�"the diversity of California, have
benefited fiom,the unique experience of participattng inalus iritel sive arts=training program; and

WHEREAS, the 21st CSSSA program is providing valuable-opportunities for students to interact with
distinguished faculty"^members in a month-long residential p>ograiri hosted at the California
Institute for th
