LANGO, DIRECTOR OF GENERAL SERVICES is COSTA DATE: MAY 16, 2006 ------ COUNTY sran`� SUBJECT: APPROVE BID DOCUMENTS AND AUTHORIZE ADVERTISEMENT FOR BIDS FOR IMPROVEMENTS AT LIVORNA PARK, LIVORNA ROAD AND MIRANDA WAY, ALAMO, FOR THE PUBLIC WORKS DEPARTMENT (WW0396) CP#06-38 SPECIFIC REQUEST(S)OR RECOMMENDATION(S)&BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION RECOMMENDATION 1. APPROVE the bid documents for improvements at Livorna Park, Alamo, including the Plans, Technical Specifications, and General Conditions. 2. DETERMINE that the project is a California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) Class 4b Categorical Exemption; DIRECT the Director of Community Development, or designee, to file a Notice of Exemption with the County Clerk; and DIRECT the Director of General Services, or designee, to arrange for payment of the $25 handling fee to the County Clerk for filing the Notice of Exemption and a $25 handling fee to Community Development for administration processing costs. 3. AUTHORIZE the General Services Director, or designee, to advertise for bids to be received on June 22, 2006 at 2:00 p.m. and to issue bid Addenda, as needed, for clarification of the contract bid documents, provided the involved changes do not significantly increase the cost estimate for the initial construction contract. FINANCIAL IMPACT There will be no impact to the County General Fund. County Service Area R-7A Funds, in conjunction with Park Dedication Funds from the Alamo area, will be used to fund this project. The estimated project cost is $273,400 of which $100,000 will be from Park Dedication Funds, and $173,4000 from R-7A Funds. BACKGROUND Livorna Park is centrally located within the community of Alamo and is highly utilized by the community. The Park is being renovated to improve Americans with Disabilities Act accessibility and install playground equipment. that meets current safety requirements. The Citizen's Advisory Committee R-7A has approved the project and approved the use of Park Dedication funds to pay for a portion of the project. The remainder of the project will be paidjDr with R-7A budgeted funds.
