WHEREAS, only about 60% oftehildren to-thig age. group are*protected by restraint'use ON EVERY RIDE, and WHEREAS, crash tested'safety seats are moderately_pr iced and'm4dely<avatlable for purchase at retail stores and atiow"cogt frorri clai safety seatdlstribution programs throughout Cahfoinia; and WHEREAS, the•State of California has ruled that until children are six years#of age or-sixty pounds, they must be,restramed m safe seats,or boosters m the�backbseat when r>d7ng'm�motor vehicles, and that all other occupants�must use;property restrained Ln safety seats or safety belts; and WHEREAS, Safet BeltSafe,U.S.A� has been dediw Y hildren from injury or death while betng4ran9poited Ln a motor vehicle, NOW,THEREFORE;BE IT RESOLVED that'the Contra Costa County Board of Supervisors does hereby declare the week of April 29 as` afetySeat Checkup Week in Contra Costa County.
