HomeMy WebLinkAboutRESOLUTIONS - 06032004 - 94-117 i t 9 9"A 0/ J r- AOOIIA02 4; C f •`onAa W IN THE MATTER OF ] RESOLUTION No. 9 4/117 Acknowledging the ] Hotel and Restaurant Workers Bill of Rights] WHEREAS, every Hotel and Restaurant Worker deserves to earn a living wage; and WHEREAS, every Hotel and Restaurant Worker deserves to work one job, not two, in order to survive; and WHEREAS, every Hotel and Restaurant Worker deserves paid vacation, sick leave, affordable family health insurance and is entitled to family and ,maternity leave; and WHEREAS, every Hotel and Restaurant Worker, regardless of immigration status, deserves to be treated with respect and dignity in accordance with all employment and labor laws; and WHEREAS, every Hotel and Restaurant Worker deserves to work in an environment free of harassment and discrimination; and WHEREAS, every Hotel and Restaurant Worker deserves meaningful access to information and education regarding occupational hazards and other health and safety standards; and WHEREAS, -every Hotel and Restaurant Worker deserves the right to address grievances free from intimidation and recrimination; and- WHEREAS, ndWHEREAS, every Hotel and Restaurant Worker deserves the right to organize for the improvement of wages and benefits, and also working and living conditions; and NOW, therefore, be it resolved, that the Board of Supervisors support the Hotel and Restaurant workers Bill of Rights. PASSED by unanimous vote of the Board members present on this First day of March, 1994. I hereby certify that the foregoing is a true and correct copy of a resolution entered on the minutes of said Board of Supervisors on the date aforesaid.
