IN THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS OF CONTRA COSTA COUNTY, STATE OF CALIFORNIA In the Matter of Designating Area Libraries for the RESOLUTION NO. 70/1242 Planning of the East Bay Cooperative Library System. VdMEAS under Chapter 1802, Statutes of California, 1963, the Public Library Development Act authorized. grants for public library systems in areas where cooperation would facilitate improved library services, and WHEREAS the East Bay Cooperative Library System has received such grants since 196L1_ under a Plan of Service approved, by the California State Library and the Public Library Development Board , and. WHEREAS the Public Library Development Board. has recommended -%'.--he total area of Alameda and. Contra Costa counties as one of twelve cooperative 'library systems and, recommended certain localities as proposed. Area Libraries, and. WHEREAS Area Libraries are proposed for back-up service to all agencies of member libraries, and. WHEREAS the Executive Committee of the East Bay Cooperative Library System, consisting of library directors of the menber libraries has unanimously recommended this A-mendment to the East Bay Cooperative library Systems Plan of Service; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT BY THIS BOARD RESOLVED that the East Bay Cooperative Library Systemts Plan of Service be amended. as follows: "In accordance with the policy of the California State Librarian adopted, July, 1969, the East Bay Cooperative Library System does hereby include in its nasterplanning the geographic plan for California Public Library Systems which designates the total of Alameda and. Contra 'Costa Counties as the logical area for one of the twelve cooperative library systems in the State of California. And., further, the East Bay Cooperative Library System- does hereby recognize Oakland and. Richmond as the proposed. locations of two of the Area Libraries; and further, does ad.d. Pre-mont and, Pleasant Hill as two add.itional Area Library locations (Fremont as part of the consolidated Alameda County Library and Pleasant Hill as part of the consolidated Contra Costa County Library) . " PASSED AND ADOPTED this 26th day of April, 1970 by the following vote of the Board: AYES: Supervisors A. M. Dias, J. E. Moriarty, E. A. L-linscheid., J. P. Kenny. NOES: None. ABSENT: Supervisor T.
