HomeMy WebLinkAboutRESOLUTIONS - 06032003 - 70-139 IIS THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS 4F CONTRA COSTA C€3UNTYO STATE '4F CALIFORNIA In the Matter of Urging, ) that the Emergency Detention } RESOLUTION NO. 74/139 Act Be Repealed. ) l WfMEAS the Japanese American Citizens ' League is seeking repeal of Title II of the Internal Se cur i ty Act of 1950, also known as the Emergency Detentions Act; and WHEREAS 5.1862 has been introduced in the United States Senate] for said purpose; and WHEREAS various local government; agencies in the count- have requested that consideration be given to said action; and WHEREAS this Board is advised that Senators George M. . Murphy and Alan 'Cranston and Congressman Jerome R. Waldie are co-sponsors of billsfavoring repeal of said legislation; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS OF CONTRA COSTA COUNTY, CALIFORNIA that it does hereby, oppose Title II of the Internal Security Act of 1950 (Emergency Detention. Act); and BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Congress of the United states' is requested to consider repeal of said measure. PASSED AND ADOPTED this 10th day of March, 1970, by the following vote of the Board: AYES: Supervisors J. P. Kenny, A. M. Dias,, J. E. Moriarty, E. A. Linscheid, T. J. Coll. NOES: stone.
