IN THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS OF CONTRA COSTA COUNTY, STATE OF CALIFORNIA In the Matter of Opposing Discontinuance of Adult Crossing Guard Program of RESOLUTION NUMBER 70/117 California Department of Highway Patrol. WHEREAS the County Administrator and Public Works Director have advised this Board that the Adult Crossing Guard Program as presently administered by the California Department of Highway Patrol may be discontinued as of June 30, 1970; and WHEREAS it has been determined that it is distinctly advantageous to counties for the state to administer said program to insure uniformity of training, supervision, and procedures, and WHEREAS the present basis of operation with central direction by the California Department of Highway Patrol and with all costs borne by the counties has been an effective functional arrangement for many years., and WHEREAS it is the recommendation of the County Adminis- trator and the Public Works Director that the Board of Supervisors express strong opposition to the discontinuance of state adminis- tration of said program; and WHEREAS it is further recommended that the county representatives in the State Legiblature be requested to determine the feasibility of Introducing legislation to guarantee continu- ance of the Adult Crossing Guard Program under the administration of the California Department of Highway Patrol; NOW,, THEREFORE, BE IT BY THIS BOARD RESOLVED that the recommendations of the County Administrator and the Public Works Director are APPROVED, and the Clark of the Board is DIRECTED to forward copies of this resolution to Governor Ronald Reagan, Senator John A. Nejedly,, Assemblyman John T. Knox and Assemblyman James W, Dent. PASSED AND ADOPTED this 3rd day of March, 1970 by the following vote of the Board: AYES: Supervisors J. P. Kenny, A. M. Dias* J. E. Moriarty, E. A. Linscheid, T. J. Coll, NOES: None, ABSENT: None. RESOLUTION NUMBER 70/117
