in Contra Costa County ) RESOLUTION NO. 20021514
WHEREAS; the Diablo Symphonywas organized in 1962 as a community-based orchestra of
professionally-trained musicians, and
WHEREAS, the Diablo Spnphonyis the oldest performing orchestra in Contra Costa County;
and
WHEREAS; the Diablo Symphony has earned a devoted following among concert audiences
from throughout the county at the Chronicle Pavilion at Concord, the Dean Lesher Regional Center
for the Arts in Walnut Creek, and other venues; and
WHEREAS the orchestra has become a cultural asset in our region; and
9WER.EAS,'the Diablo Symphony, begins its Fortieth Anniversary season on September 22,
2002
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT'RESOLVLD that the Board of Supervisors recognizes the
orchestra's longevity and its contribution to the cultural life and vitality of the community, and
hereby declares September 22, 2002 "Diablo Symphony Day"in Contra Costa County, saluting all
those who are contributing to this celebration.
