HomeMy WebLinkAboutRESOLUTIONS - 06052001 - 2001.224 r GAG0/gaqfw� RESOLUTION HONORING DENNIS SALMI RESOLUTION NO. 2001/ 224 FOR HIS 33 YEARS OF SERVICE TO THE RODEO-HERCULES FIRE PROTECTION DISTRICT WHEREAS, DENNIS SALMI began his career with the Rodeo Fire District in 1968 at seventeen years of age, as a volunteer firefighter, and joined the permanent force in 1969. He rose through the ranks beginning with firefighter, engineer, captain, administrative captain, assistant chief and finishing his career as chief/administrator of the department; and WHEREAS, DENNIS SALMI is the founder of many committees and coalitions throughout West Contra Costa County. His effort in establishing these important and heartfelt programs is appreciated throughout the Hercules and Rodeo Communities. WHEREAS, DENNIS SALMI is the founder of the St. Patrick's School's Emergency Preparedness Committee establishing First Aid Programs and Emergency Preparedness Drills. He authored the school's Emergency Preparedness Manual, which is currently being used as a model throughout the County and lie was instrumental in the formation of numerous department programs including the Smoke Detector Program, the Neighborhood Emergency Response Training, Project Safe Place: School Programs; and WHEREAS, DENNIS SALMI is the founderof the Christmas Coalition which provides food and toys to over-300 needy families within the district, he formed the Community,Advisory Panel where local citizens participate in advising the District on local issues. Chief Salmi is responsible for the Civilian Hiring Panel to advise the District during its firefighter recruitment process. WHEREAS, DENNIS SALMI has gained the respect of not only his peers, but.that of the District personnel and the community. Chief Salmi and his wife of 22 years, Doris, Have two children, Darren and Darcy.
