RESOLUTION CONGRATULATING RESOLUTION NO. 2001/269
CONTRA COSTA COUNTY YOUTH
SPORTS ORGANIZATIONS ON RECEIPT
OF THEIR GRANTS FROM THE BAY AREA
SPORTS HALL OF FAME
WHEREAS, THE BAY AREA SPORTS HALL OF FAME (BASHOF) is a nonprofit organization that
honors sports legends of the Bay Area and provides sports equipment to children's athletic organizations to help
develop the attributes gained by participating in sports. Teamwork, citizenship, sportsmanship, respect for
authority and leadership; and
WHEREAS, BASHOF hosts two fundraising events each year. Proceeds from these special events benefit
the Youth Fund.
WHEREAS, BASHOF Youth Fund has distributed more than $1,514,000 in sports equipment grants to over
350 youth sports organizations. Since its inception in 1981, more than 400,000 children have benefited from
Youth Fund grants in the nine counties of the Bay Area; and
WHEREAS, BASHOF awards Bay Area high school juniors or seniors annually with the Art Rosenbaum
Sportswriting Scholarships judged by.ptofessional sportswriters, three students are awarded each spring. In
the Fall the Beau Venturi Scholarship'is awarded to the male and female winners of San Francisco's High
School Golf Championship.
NOW, THEREFORE,.BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of Supervisors of Contra Costa County does
hereby honor andcorigratulate"the
PASSED BY A UNANIMOUS VOTE OF THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS THIS 26TH DAY
OF JUNE2001.
