WHEREAS the Grounds Maintenance Division uses pesticides to maintain more
than 150 sites classified by the California Environmental Protection Agency as
agricultural areas; and

written recommendation by a licensed Pest control Advisor for all pesticide
applications; and
WHEREAS the Grounds and Special Services Manager who possessed the
certificate and signed the recommendations has retired; NOW THEREFORE:
THE CONTRA COSTA COUNTY BOARD OF SUPERVISORS in its capacity as
governing Board of the County of Contra Costa and all districts of which it is ex-
officio governing Board RESOLVES THAT effective June 1, 2001, in the absence
of an incumbent in the Grounds Manager classification, one incumbent in the
class of Ground Maintenance Supervisor, when assigned the duties of writing
recommendations for pesticide applications, shall receive a 5% differential for
possession of an Advisors License issued by the Department of Pesticide
Regulation.
This action will result in a cost savings. If the department had to contract out for
these services, the cost would be approximately $8500 annually. Paying a
