THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS OF CONTRA COSTA COUNTY, CALIFORNIA

SUBJECT: In the Matter of Adjusting Compensation Resolution No. 2001/248
for Eligible Represented Project Employees
in the Community Services Department
Commencing July 1, 2001
WHEREAS the Community Services Director has advised the Office of the County Administrator
that the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services and the California Department of Education
have provided for a Cost of Living increase to all eligible Represented Project employees in the
Community Services Department effective July. 1, 2001.
WHEREAS the County met and conferred with the Contra Costa County Employees Association,
Local #1, which represents the non-management classes listed below.
Now therefore, the Contra Costa County Board of Supervisors in its capacity as Governing Board of
the County of Contra Costa, and all' districts of which it is the ex-officio Governing Board,
RESOLVES THAT:
A) Effective July 1, 2001, the Family and Children's Services (FACS) represented
classifications listed below will be adjusted upward on the County salary schedule by
4%:

B) Effective July 1, 2001, the .Family and Children's Services (FACS) represented
classifications listed below will be adjusted upward on the County salary schedule by

classifications listed below:will be adjusted upward on the County salary schedule by

F) Effective July 1, 2001., abolish the class of Family and Children's Services (FACS)
Recruitment/Enrollment Services Worker-Project (9MW5) and reallocate the
positions and incumbents .thereof to the class of Family and Children's Services
(FACS) Intermediate Clerk-Project (99J3).
G) Lump Sum Payment: All persons who occupy a position in any of the above
classifications on July 1, 2001, shall be eligible to receive the salary scale adjustments
listed above. If for any reason, the salary adjustments are not implemented on July 1,
2001, all persons eligible to receive the salary scale adjustments will be retroactively
compensated back to July 1, 2001, from the date of payment. In lieu of a retroactive pay
requiring special payroll recomputation processing back to July 1, 2001, the County will
make a lump sum payment to each employee for the period from July 1, 2001, through
the date of payment, computed as follows: Employee regular pay, overtime pay, and
specific other earnings ordinarily computed as a percentage of base pay will be added
together for each applicable pay period to determine the Lump Sum Base Payment. This
base will be multiplied by the designated percent (%). The payment amount, thus
computed, will be added to the employee's next paycheck where it will be listed
separately as a LUMP SUM PAYMENT and will be subject to normal tax withholding
and retirement deduction requirements.
Any employee believing there is an underpayment resulting from this methodology
exceeding $30.00 may contact,the Community Services Department. The Auditor's office
will investigate and issue the additional pay, if owed, as soon as possible.
