IN THE MATTER OF CONGRATULATING ) RESOLUTION NO. 2001/238
LYNETTE L. TANNER-BUSBY ON HER )
ELECTION AS PRESIDENT OF THE CONTRA )
COSTA TAXPAYERS ASSOCIATION )
AND COMMENDING THAT ASSOCIATION )
FOR THEREBY RECOGNIZING HER )
ABILITIES AND ACCOMPLISHMENTS AS A )
WOMAN IN BUSINESS AND PUBLIC )
SERVICE IN CONTRA COSTA COUNTY )
WHEREAS, the Contra Costa Taxpayers Association was formed in 1937 as an independent,
non-partisan, nonprofit organization of community leaders, business managers and concerned
citizens in Contra Costa County;
WHEREAS, the Contra Costa Taxpayers Association is dedicated to promoting economy and
efficiency in local government through research, education and advocacy;
WHEREAS, Lynette L. Tanner-Busby has been elected President of the Contra Costa Taxpayers
Association and will assume office at the Association's June 16'2001, meeting;
WHEREAS, she is the first woman in the last twenty years to hold that office;
WHEREAS, she has served with distinction on the governing boards of the Contra Costa County
Fair Board, Western Contra Costa County Transit Authority, Hercules Park and Recreation
Commission, Contra Costa Child Care Council, Sacramento Foundation for Public Education,
and other volunteer organizations;
WHEREAS, since 1989 she has been the Executive Director of the Contra Costa Centre
Association, an organization composed of the commercial property owners and business in the
County Redevelopment Area surrounding the Pleasant Hill BART Station, and in that capacity
she has initiated a widely-acclaimed Transit Demand Management program and a model Child
Care Affordability Program for people working in the Redevelopment Area, and has created an
effective partnership between Association members, government and community members in
working toward the "transit village"goal for the Area;
NOW, THEREFORE,BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of Supervisors of Contra Costa
County congratulates Lynette L. Tanner-Busby on her election as President of the Contra Costa
Taxpayers Association and commends the Association for its recognition her abilities and
accomplishments in bringing business and government together to serve the public good.
