In the Matter of Declaring the Week of )
- May 4-10, 1997 as NATIONAL -- )` RESOLUTION NO. 97/205
TOURISM WEEK in Contra Costa ) - -
County ) -
WHEREAS, the travel and tourism industry carries tremendous importance for the County of
Contra Costa, contributing to our employment, economic prosperity, international trade and
relations, peace, understanding, and goodwill; and
WHEREAS, every citizen benefits from the effects of travel and tourism; and
WHEREAS, the industry substantially enhances our personal growth and education while
promoting intercultural understanding and appreciation of our county's geography, history, and
culture; and
I
WHEREAS, we wish to recognize the'unique significance of the travel and tourism industry in
'the lives of the citizens of Contra Costa._
NOW, THEREFORE, BE ITRESOLVED that the Board of Supervisors declares the week of May
4-10, 1997, as NATIONAL TOURISM WEEK and urges the people of Contra Costa to join in I
this observance.
PASSED AND ADOPTED ON May 6, 1997, by a unanimous vote of the Board members present.
