DA VIS FOR MERITORIOUS SERVICE WHEREAS, The County of Contra Costa has taken a lead role in the development of roads, bridges,flood control facilities, transit services, airports,parks and trails throughout the County and recognizes and values the vital importance of the development of public works to the economic well being of the County and its Cities and to the maintenance of their quality of life;and WHEREAS,Stanford E Davis began work W fo►r Contra Costa County as a Junior Civil Engineer in February 1960, working on various road and drainage projects and earning his Professional Engineer's license in the State of California;and WHEREAS,Mr.Davis left County employment to become Assistant City Engineer for the City of Antioch, California in November, 1964,and WHEREAS, Mr. Davis was promoted to City Engineer of Antioch in January, 1969 and to Public Works Director/City Engineer in July, 1978;and WHEREAS, Mr. Davis has been an outspoken, energetic and tireless proponent of public works throughout Contra Costa County and beyond during his 19 years as Public Works Director at Antioch, including: Active, continuous service in the Contra Costa County Engineering Advisory Committee, twice serving as its Chairman, Serving as Chairman of the Technical Advisory Committee in support of Contra Costa County's Measure C sales tans for transportation during the first campaign and again serving on the Committee during the second successful campaign. Active membership in the Municipal Public Works Officers Association, including twice serving as Chair, Serving as Cities Representative to the American Water Works Association, Serving on the Technical Advisory Committee to the Contra Costa County Solid Waste Committee, Very active membership and support for the National Society of Professional Engineers, including numerous terms as an officer or committee chair, NOW, Therefore,Be It Resolved that the Barad ofSupervisors of Contra Costa County does hereby publicly recognize and express its appreciation for the contribution Mr. Davis has made to Contra Costa County, to the City of Antioch. and to his profession. 1 hereby certify that the foregoing is a true and correct copy of an order entered on the Minutes of said Board of Supervisors on the aforesaid date.
