AL DESSAYER AS THE 1997
MORAGA CITIZEN OF THE YEAR
WHEREAS, AL DESSAYER, since moving to Moraga in 1972, has been committed to serving the
community through extensive service in appointed and elected positions and by contributing his time and
energies to many local organizations which are key to what Moragans consider "the quality of life"; and
WHEREAS,AL DESSAYER, served on the initial committee for incorporation, making a significant
contribution in defining the Town's character and its guiding principles; and
WHEREAS, AL DESSAYER, took on the responsibilities of Town Treasurer, helping to establish a
foundation for prudent management of the Town's financial resources. Concurrently, he was appointed
to the Planning Commission and worked to help define the "rural character" of Moraga and manage the
growth of the Town consistent with that vision; and
WHEREAS, AL DESSAYER, was elected in the early 1980's to the first of three terms on the Town
Council, serving a total of 12 years including 3 terms as Mayor.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of Supervisors of Contra Costa County
hereby honors and commends
AL DESSAYER
for his contributions to the Town of Moraga.
PASSED by vote of the Board of Supervisors members present on this 13th day of May, 1997.
