MARCH, 1997 AS PROFESSIONAL ]
SOCIAL WORK MONTH IN ] RESOLUTION NO. 97/111
CONTRA COSTA COUNTY 1
Whereas, our community is comprised of many individuals who are vulnerable as a result
of living in poverty and are struggling to cope with serious life stresses. Many children
live in families where they are at risk of abuse or neglect. Our County has stressed
HEALTHY CHILDREN,HEALTHY FAMILIES AND HEALTHY COMMUNITIES as
a goal to strive towards; and
Whereas, the social work profession is dedicated to these goals and its tradition is to
enable individuals and families of all economic levels to lead productive, satisfying and
independent lives and to work specifically with vulnerable population. Professional
social workers can and do make a difference in the lives of individuals. It is the largest
group of professionals dedicated to improving the condition of those in our society with
the least; and
Whereas, Contra Costa County acknowledges the dedication and hard work of many
individuals and agencies working in the field of PROFESSIONAL SOCIAL WORK and
appreciates their continuing commitment to provide essential supportive services in
communities throughout our county:
NOW, THEREFORE,BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of Supervisors declares March,
1997 as PROFESSIONAL SOCIAL WORK MONTH in Contra Costa County.
Passed and Adopted on March 11, 1997, by a unanimous vote of Board members present.
