HomeMy WebLinkAboutRESOLUTIONS - 04021996 - 96-143 f THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS OF CONTRA COSTA COUNTY, CALIFORNIA Adopted this order on April 2, 1996 by the following vote: AYES: Supervisors Rogers, Bishop, De Saulnier, Torlakson and Smith. NOES: None. ABSENT: None. ABSTAIN: None. RESOLUTION NO. 96/143 SUBJECT: Support full and continued funding for the Contra Costa County Lead Poisoning Prevention Project. WHEREAS childhood lead poisoning is one of the most serious environmental health hazards faced by children today; WHEREAS the Contra Costa County Lead Poisoning Prevention Project (LPPP) provides needed services to lead poisoned children, their families, health care providers and the community, as mandated by state law; WHEREAS over 300 lead poisoned children have been identified in Contra Costa County in the last three years; WHEREAS the LPPP, in partnership with community based organizations, will reach thousands more CCC children and families in the next year; WHEREAS funding for these services is threatened by proposed cuts from the Department of Health Services and a lawsuit by paint manufacturers; BE IT THEREFORE RESOLVED that the Contra Costa County Board of Supervisors supports full and continued funding of lead poisoning prevention efforts as mandated by the Childhood Lead Poisoning Prevention Act of 1991 and; BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Board of Supervisors calls on other counties, families and residents to lend their support to full funding for lead poisoning prevention efforts. ==and that this is a true and correct copy of an action taken and entered on the minutes of the Board of Supervi4ors on the date shown.
