HomeMy WebLinkAboutRESOLUTIONS - 04231996 - 96-169 4 ��UfU�?r?ff,GdXJ- IN THE MAT'T'ER OF DECLARING ] Resolution No. 96/169 THE MONTH OF APRIL, 1996 AS SEXUAL ASSAULT AWARENESS ] MONTH IN CONTRA COSTA COUNTY ] WHEREAS, women, children, and men are all victims of sexual assault and it is estimated that one in three women, one in four girls, one in six boys, and one in 11 men will be victims at least once in their lives; and WHEREAS, women, children and men suffer multiple types of sexual violence, including, but not limited to: stranger rape, date rape, spousal rape, gang rape, serial rape, trafficking and prostitution, pornography, ritual abuse, sexual harassment, incest, child sexual molestation and stalking; and WHEREAS, there is an agency in Contra Costa County, known as the Rape Crisis Center, which directly confronts this crisis responding to over 7,000 calls from women, children, and men each year for crisis intervention, counseling, information and prevention services in regard to sexual assault NOW, THEREFORE, BE .IT RESOLVED that the Board of Supervisors of Contra Costa County does hereby declare April as Sexual Assault Awareness Month in keeping with national efforts; and BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Board of Supervisors acknowledges the Rape Crisis Center for its services responding to the needs of victims of sexual assault and its programs that are aimed at eliminating this horrific crime. Passed by vote of the Board of Supervisors members present on this 23rd day of April, 1996.
