HomeMy WebLinkAboutRESOLUTIONS - 04231996 - 96-166 e -a� Board of Supervisors of Contra Costa County, State of California IN THE MATTER OF PROCLAIMING THE ) WEEK OF APRIL 21-27, 1996 AS THE ) WEEK OF THE YOUNG CHILD IN ] RESOLUTION NO. 96/ 166 CONTRA COSTA COUNTY ) WHEREAS.the 26th celebration of the Week of the Young Child focuses public attention on the rights and needs of young children, and WHEREAS, the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) is sponsor for the celebration, and WHEREAS,this year's theme,Early Years Are.Learning Years...Make them Count! emphasizes the importance of the early years for children's learning and all aspects of development, and WHEREAS, Week of the Young Child activities - planned and implemented by the 450 state and local early childhood,organizations affiliated with NAEYC-remind us all that the early years lay the foundation for all,iater learning and shape whether children succeed in school and later in life, and WHEREAS,we must ensure that all young children enjoy an early childhood that prepares them to take full advantage of their educational opportunities and to become effective citizens, capable workers, and loving parents of the next generation, and WHEREAS, the wide array of Week of the Young Child.events share the common goals of providing information and support to parents, building public support for high quality early childhood services that meet professional standards of quality, have sufficient numbers of qualified and adequately compensated staff, and are affordable to families, recognizing the contributions of teachers,caregivers and others in providing high quality programs for children, stimulating specific actions on behalf of young children and the programs that serve them;and celebrating the wonders of childhood. Now, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of Supervisors declares April 21 - 27 as the Week of the Young Child in Contra Costa County, State of California. Passed and Adopted on April 23, 1996, by a unanimous vote of Board members present. I hereby certify that the foregoing is a true and correct copy of an order entered on the Minutes of said Board of Supervisors on the aforesaid date.
