HomeMy WebLinkAboutRESOLUTIONS - 03051996 - 96-90 SD.4 i _ THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS OF CONTRA COSTA COUNTY In the Matter of Resolution No. 9 6/9 0 Support and Participation in the 1996 East Contra Costa Economic Forum WHEREAS, demographic projects by the Association of Bay Area Governments and other project an East County population as large as 400,000 persons by the year 2010; WHEREAS, it is essential that the cities and unincorporated areas which comprise the East County build viable, sustainable economics to support a future regional populace at least twice the size of the current populace; WHEREAS, many of the infrastructure problems and issues affecting East County jurisdictions are in fact regional problems requiring collaborative solutions; WHEREAS, building a viable regional economy and an attractive regional image requires the collaboration of all local jurisdictions; and WHEREAS, it has been well established by Joint Venture Silicon Valley, the Bay Area Economic Forum, and others, that jurisdictional collaboration -- not jurisdictional competition -- is the sole effective way of building a viable regional economy. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Board of Supervisors of Contra Costa County does hereby resolve to support and participate in a 1996 East Contra Costa County Economic Forum, with all other local jurisdictions, to address all of the above issues and to develop action plans-and implementation strategies for each of these issues. PASSED by unanimous vote of the Board Members present on this 5th Day of March, 1996.
