14IE2�EAS, a growing number of Contra Costa County residents depend on the food
assistance they receive from the Contra Costa F'oodBank-and
WM4M,,U, the food bank provides a vital service by collecting donations of good,
wholesome food that otherwise might go to waste,and
` NE1UAS, this food is dutri6uted to more than 37,500 needy people in Contra Costa
County every month through direct service programs of the food bank such as Food for Children and
the senior Brown Bag program, and through the food 6anks networkof 200 local charities;and
"MAS, community support is more important than ever in making it possi6fe for the
food 6ankto meet the needs of hungry Contra Costa County residents,and
UMEUAS, the individual support of Bonnie Owen, a former migrant farmworker and
Pittsburg police woman exempCzfies the spirit of caring that Contra Costa is known for, and
UMEUAS, Bonnie, on her own, walked the perimeter of Contra Costa County — more
than ISO mides—to raise money in pledges for the ToodBank;s work;
NOW, MUTOU, BE IT WOL`GtEtD, that the Board of Supervisors of
Contra Costa County does hereby proclaim Tuesday, 9Karch 26, 1996, as `Bonnie Owen Day" in
Contra Costa County in grateful acknowledgement of her outstanding and dedicated contribution to
the good workof the Contra Costa Food Bank.
