HomeMy WebLinkAboutRESOLUTIONS - 06201995 - 95-256 P1 IN THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS OF CONTRA COSTA COUNTY, STATE OF CALIFORNIA In the Matter of Proclaiming July 4, 1995, as ) CONCORD PAVILION 20TH ANNIVERSARY ) RESOLUTION NO. 951256 OBSERVANCE AND CELEBRATION DAY ) in Contra Costa County ) WHEREAS, the Concord Pavilion opened on May 16, 1975, as the first outdoor,public assembly facility of its kind west of the Mississippi; and WHEREAS, the Concord Pavilion in its first 20 years has, as a highly versatile, aesthetically designed, and international award winning performing arts center, attracted hundreds of major performing artists and hundreds of thousands of spectators; and WHEREAS, the Concord Pavilion has attracted worldwide attention as the home of the Concord Jazz Festival; and WHEREAS, the Concord Pavilion has contributed significantly to the economy of Contra Costa County as an employer and through attracting consistently large audiences; and WHEREAS, the Concord Pavilion continues to demonstrate its dedication to enriching the lives of Contra Costa County residents and visitors from throughout Northern California and beyond through its broad and diverse program of community and cultural performances and events; and WHEREAS, the Concord Pavilion will at the conclusion of its 1995 season embark on a major expansion program to accommodate growing audiences; and WHEREAS, the Concord Pavilion is observing its 20th anniversary on July 4, 1995, and celebrating its past success and the promise of a bright future. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of Supervisors proclaims July 4, 1995, as CONCORD PAVILION 20THANNIVERSARY OBSERVANCE AND CELEBRATION DAY in Contra Costa County and encourages all citizens to participate in the festivities.
