Retirement from the Pleasant Hill )
Police Department )
WHEREAS, Captain Timothy Martell has spent the past 25 years of his 32 year career with the
Pleasant Hill Police Department (PHPD); and
WHEREAS, on June 9, 1995, he will be retiring from PHPD after a long and distinguished
career; and
WHEREAS, Captain Martell has served PHPD in many capacities: as the Narcotic/Vice
Investigator, a Watch Commander, Patrol Division Commander,' Investigative Division
Commander, Services Division Commander, and finally Captain of Operations Division; and
WHEREAS, Captain Martell has been involved in numerous staff studies and has been very
active with many of the technological changes within the Department, including implementation
of the CAD System; and
WHEREAS, among his other interests, Captain Martell also has his teaching credential and has
been an instructor at both Diablo Valley College and Los Medanos College; and
WHEREAS, Captain Martell has been an invaluable asset to the Pleasant Hill Police Department
and to the City of Pleasant Hill. His presence and input will be sincerely missed.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of Supervisors declares June 9, 1995,
as CAPTAIN TIMOTHY MARTELL DAY in Contra Costa County and wishes him and his wife,
Carolyn, much happiness in retirement.
PASSED AND ADOPTED ON May 23, 1995, by a unanimous vote of the Board members
present. 1
