HomeMy WebLinkAboutRESOLUTIONS - 04251995 - 95-172 s� IN THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS OF CONTRA COSTA COUNTY, STATE OF CALIFORNIA Resolution of the Board of Supervisors ) In Support of Nursing Home Care Reform ) Resolution No. 95/172 WHEREAS, there is growing concern regarding the provision of, and the quality of, nursing home care in the state of California, with violations reaching an all-time high, according to the State Department of Health Services Licensing and Certification Office, and WHEREAS, there is the need for new reforms measures and more stringent enforcement policies to improve overall patient care, nurse staffing levels, and training; and WHEREAS, the California Advocates for Nursing Home Reform has mounted a statewide campaign to call attention to the plight of nursing home care, and is working aggressively to seek the necessary reforms for a quality care system; and WHEREAS, the City of Richmond's Commission on Aging has gone on record in support of nursing home care reform, as part of the campaign to generate broad based support for legislative or other regulatory relief, and WHEREAS, the Council of the City of Richmond, as well as many residents in the County of Contra Costa are equally concerned about the growing number of violations and citations issued to nursing care institutions, which clearly suggests the need for various reform measures: NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Board of Supervisors of Contra Costa County, by adoption of this resolution herein states its support for nursing home care reform, and would urge that all necessary steps be taken to expedite consideration of reforms, to ensure adequate care, improve staffing levels, and provide additional training of care providers.
