HomeMy WebLinkAboutRESOLUTIONS - 06211994 - 94-328 1 . 0 1N THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS OF CONTRA COSTA COUNTY, STATE OF CALIFORNIA In the Matter Supporting the NAACP ) Proposal to Implement the "Educational } Achievement of African American ) Males" in Five WCCUSD Schools ) } Resolution No, 94/ 328 WHEREAS, the NAACP-Richmond Branch established an Education Coalition Advisory Board to assess and monitor the academic performance of all AL-icaii Amwivtut students Liu the West Contra Costa Unified School District; and WHEREAS, the results of the Local Needs Assessment validated the poor academic performance of African American Males and the need for coordinated social services; and WHEREAS, the NAACP Education Coalition is charged with the responsibility of developing in cooperation with WCCUSD a prq}ect designed to improve the educational and cultural enrichment of African American males in five targeted schools (Coronado, Nystrom, Stege, Portola, and Kennedy); and WHEREAS, the NAACP-Richmond Branch is committed to this collaborative effort to begin immediately to improve the local school experiences of African American males by implementing this elemental project to coordinate all available educational and social services at the five targeted schools: NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of Supervisors of Contra Costa County supports the NAACP's proposal to implement the "Educational Achievement Project for African American Males"in the WCCUSD targeted schools.
