HomeMy WebLinkAboutRESOLUTIONS - 05031994 - 94-237 IN THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS OF CONTRA COSTA COUNTY, STATE OF CALIFORNIA In the Matter Declaring ) May 14, 1994 Letter ) Carrier Day in Contra ) Costa County ) Resolution No. 94/237 WHEREAS, the need for donations of food for hungry people in Contra Costa County is increasing despite the efforts of local charities to provide food to residents in need; and WHEREAS, the Contra Costa Food Bank and its network of 195 membership agencies is helping to feed 37,000 people each month, and the demand keeps growing; and WHEREAS, the National Association of Letter Carriers, as represented in this county by Greater East Bay Branch 1111, has dedicated Saturday, May 14, 1994, to the evengroat:er service of collecting non-perishable foodstuffs as they deliver the mail; and WHEREAS, each citizen of our county is urged to help alleviate hunger by making a donation of canned or packaged food by their mailbox cr! at their local post office: NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of Supervisors of Contra Costa County that May 14, 1994 be declared Letter Carrier's Day in Contra Costa County. This action is taken to recognize the partnership of the NALC Greater East Bay Branch 1111, the United States Postal Service, the United Way, the AFL-CIO, and the Contra Costa Food Bank in their efforts to help hungry citizens in our community.
