HomeMy WebLinkAboutRESOLUTIONS - 04191994 - 94-199 IN THE MATTER OF ] RESOLUTION NO. 94/199 ACKNOWLEDGING THE ] "INCREASE THE PEACE--] YOUTH SUMMIT 194" ] WHEREAS, community activities discouraging violence and the use of alcohol and other drugs, lower the risk of substance abuse among young people, and; WHEREAS, fewer problems with violence and alcohol and other drug abuse occur in communities where people have great attachment to the community, and; WHEREAS, community activities discouraging violence and the use of alcohol and other drugs among youth are most effective when youth are actively involved in the planning and implementation of such activities, and; WHEREAS, youth , organizations, groups, and individuals from all five regions of the County have come together to plan "Increase the Peace--Youth Summit ' 94" a celebration of each community's progress in confronting violence and substance abuse problems and an opportunity to build momentum among youth for the work still to be done; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED THAT THE Board of Supervisors of Contra Costa County declares April 22, 1994 to be Increase the Peace Day and encourages the youth of Contra Costa County to attend the Increase the Peace celebration at the Contra Costa County Fairgrounds in Antioch. PASSED by unanimous vote of the Board members present on this the nineteenth day of April, 1994 .
