HomeMy WebLinkAboutRESOLUTIONS - 03081994 - 94-139 IN RECOGNITION OF JOHN SPARACINO] RESOLUTION NUMBER 94/139 AS RECIPIENT OF MARTINEZ ] CHAMBER OF COMMERCE ] LIFETIME ACHIEVEMENT AWARD ] WHEREAS, John Sparacino a dedicated,. kind, truly devoted native son of Martinez, born to an Italian fishing family with deep roots in the history of Martinez; and WHEREAS, John Sparacino spent his boyhood developing his deep love for his community, and demonstrated this by his fine work with the Boys and Girls Club, Bethel Auxiliary of Jobs Daughters, Masonic Lodge, and as a board member at St. Catherine School; and WHEREAS, John Sparacino showed true allegiance to his Country by serving with honor and distinction in the United States Navy as a Radioman during World War II and later as the Post Commander for the American Legion; and WHEREAS, John Sparacino returned to his home in Martinez to begin a long and successful career in the retail business with his brother, those years of invaluable experience lead to another career in the field of banking as Vice President of Eureka Federal Savings ; and WHEREAS, John Sparacino spent innumerable hours and boundless energy serving the residents of his community, a commitment that remains unduplicated; and WHEREAS, John Sparacino has shown himself to be a dedicated public servant by his selection and service on the Martinez Water Advisory Committee, Cemetery Commission, as Chair of the County Grand Jury, and current. President of the Martinez Historical Society; and WHEREAS, John Sparacino showed his true devotion to the citizens of Martinez by serving as a member of the City Council for twelve years and as the first elected Mayor of Martinez; and WHEREAS, John Sparacino's commitment to preserving the rich history of Martinez helped him lead the campaign to successfully save the Borland Home, currently the Martinez Museum; and NOW, THEREFORE, we, the Board of Supervisors of Contra Costa County, because of his undaunted commitment and exemplary service to the citizens of Martinez as well as the people of Contra Costa County are honored to recognize and congratulate JOHN SPARACINO ` AS MARTINEZ CHAMBER OF COMMERCE !.
