IN THE MATTER OF . ] RESOLUTION No. 94/117
Acknowledging the ]
Hotel and Restaurant ]
Workers Bill of Rights]
WHEREAS, every Hotel and Restaurant Worker. deserves to earn a
living wage; and
WHEREAS, .. every Hotel and Restaurant Worker deserves to work one
job, not two, in order to survive; and'
WHEREAS; every Hotel. and Restaurant Worker deserves paid vacation,
sick leave, affordable family health insurance and is entitled to
family and maternity leave;. and
WHEREAS, every Hotel and Restaurant Worker, regardless of
immigration status, deserves to be treated with respect and dignity
in accordance with all `employment and labor laws;_ and
WHEREAS, every Hotel and Restaurant Worker deserves to work in an
environment free of harassment and discrimination; and
WHEREAS, every Hotel and Restaurant Worker deserves meaningful
access to information and education regarding occupational hazards
and other health and safety standards; and
WHEREAS, every Hotel and Restaurant Worker deserves the right. to
address grievances free from intimidation and recrimination; and
WHEREAS, every Hotel and Restaurant Worker deserves the right to
organize for the improvement of wages and benefits, and also
working and living conditions; and
NOW, therefore, be it resolved, that the ' Board of Supervisors
support the Hotel and Restaurant Workers Bill of Rights.
PASSED by unanimous vote of the Board members present on this First
day of March, 1994 .
I hereby certify that the foregoing. is a true and correct copy of
a resolution entered on the minutes of said Board .of Supervisors on
the date aforesaid.
