HomeMy WebLinkAboutRESOLUTIONS - 03231993 - 93-142 THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS OF CONTRA COSTA COUNTY, CALIFORNIA IN THE MATTER OF RESOLUTION NO. 93/142 Honoring Debbie Geyser on Her Induction Into the Liberty Union High School District Athletic Hall of Fame WHEREAS,induction ceremonies for the 1993 Liberty High School Athletic Hall of Fame will be held on March 27, 1993, honoring special members of the community who have made valuable contributions to the Liberty High School athletic program and Debbie Geyser has been selected to receive this prestigious honor; WHEREAS, Debbie Geyser ranks as one of the most outstanding athletes, male or female, in the history of Liberty Union High School. She was First Team Foothill Athletic League in three sports during her career at Liberty. She was First Team All-FAL in volleyball in 1984 as well as being selected Co-Most Valuable Player. She also made the All-Lesher Team that year. She played two years of varsity volleyball; she played varsity softball and was All-FAL First Team selection in 1985,and she was her team's Most Valuable Player with a .413 batting average; Debbie played varsity basketball all four years at Liberty and was the Most Valuable Player in 1983, 1984,and 1985. She was First Team All-FAL in 1983, 1984 and 1985. In 1984,she was selected as the Co-most Valuable Player of the FAL and in 1985 she was the FAL's Most Valuable Player. She was selected to the All-Lesher Team in 1983, 1984 and was Player of the Year in 1985. She was selected All-East Bay in 1983, 1984,and was honored as the All-East Bay Player of the Year in 1985. She was also chosen to the All-Northern California Team in 1984 and 1985; WHEREAS,Debbie played basketball at San Joaquin Delta College in Stockton. There she earned First Team Northern California honors in 1985 and was elected the First Team All State Team in 1986. She was also chosen Delta College's Most Valuable Player in 1986; WHEREAS, she was Scholar Athlete at Liberty in 1985 and Female Athlete of the Year. WHEREAS, in 1986,Debbie was selected the Stockton Athletic Hall of Fame winner for her basketball feats at San Joaquin Delta College. WHEREAS, she attended the University of the Pacific on an athletic scholarship to play basketball where she excelled during the 1987 season; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of Supervisors hereby honors Debbie Geyser for her outstanding athletic career at LibertyHigh School and in college and respectfully acknowledges her induction into the LUHSD Athletic Hall of Fame. PASSED by unanimous vote of the Board members present on this 23rd day of March, 1993.
