EPSTEIN DAY in Contra Costa County )
Dr. Marvin A. Epstein has practiced cardiology in Contra Costa
County since 1951 and has worked tirelessly to relieve suffering
and to reduce disability and death from heart disease, stroke and
related disorders .
Dr. Epstein was a founding member of John Muir Medical Center and
organized the first coronary care unit in the county at that
. hospital . He also served as Chairman of Cardiology and Chief of
Staff of that facility.
Scores of physicians and hundreds of nurses have acquired practical
knowledge and state-of-the-art skills from the symposia and CCU
courses he has organized and taught.
Dr. Epstein has been an active volunteer with the American Heart .
Association for over 30 years, advocating its lifesaving mission
as well as serving in high leadership posts at both the county and
state levels . The Contra Costa County Chapter of the Association
will recognize Dr. Epstein as its first "Heart of Gold" recipient
at a dinner paying tribute to his years of dedicated service to the
community on June 13, 1991 .
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of Supervisors
proclaims June 13, 1991, as DR. MARVIN A. EPSTEIN DAY in Contra
Costa County in honor and recognition of his devotion and
contributions to improving the quality of life and health in our
county.
PASSED AND ADOPTED on June 11, 1991, by a unanimous vote of the
Board members present.
