HomeMy WebLinkAboutRESOLUTIONS - 05071991 - 91-282 i I I I i BOARD OF SUPERVISORS OF CONSTRA COSTA COUNTY i IN THE MATTER OF RESOLUTION NO. 91/282 Proclaiming May 8, 1991 "USS FLINT DAY' i WHEREAS,the USS FLINT was the first Concord home-ported ship to report for duty in the Persian Gulf in Operation Desert Shield; and WHEREAS,this ammunition resupply ship provided support for men-of-war of the United States as well as other United Nations Coalition Navies during Operation Desert Storm; and VIFEEREAS,the contributions of the USS FLINT to the war effort was essential to the successful conclusion of.that war; and WHEREAS,the officers and crew of the USS FLINT did their duty in a thoroughly professional and highly courageous manner, despite the necessity for family sacrifices; NOW,THEREFORE,BE IT RESOLVED THAT THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS OF CONTRA COSTA COUNTY,CALIFORNIA,does hereby express their sincere appreciation and gratitude for the contribution of the officers and crew of the USS FLINT to the liberation of Kuwait in the Defense of Freedom; and BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that May 8, 1991,be officially designated USS FLINT DAY in recognition of the ships return to homeport and as a most sincere "Welcome Home"from the proud and grateful Citizens of Contra Costa County. PASSED by unanimous vote of the Board Members present of the 7th day of May, 1991.
