IN THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS
OF
CONTRA COSTA COUNTY, STATE OF CALIFORNIA
In the Matter of Designating )
April 7, 1989, as ROSE SANDECKI )
DAY in Contra Costa County ) RESOLUTION NO. 89/209
Rose Sandecki, R.N. , M.S. , is a veteran of the Vietnam War,
having served as a combat nurse from 1968-1969. She is a team
leader of the Concord Vet Center in the Department of Veterans'
Affairs, a position she leaves on April 10th to assume new
duties at the VA Medical Center in Menlo Park.
Experiencing first hand the horror of war, the resulting
devastation, and the price in human suffering has strengthened
her courage and dedication to those men and women whose lives
were unalterably affected by that war.
She has, through her experiences with Post-Traumatic Stress
Disorder, published several articles in medical journals which
have focused upon this problem and greatly assisted in its
understanding and treatment.
Rose Sandecki is one of those rare individuals who incorporates
loving sensitivity and compassion in her duties as a clinical
counselor at the Veterans Center, providing a valuable and
outstanding service to the entire community.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of Supervisors that
Friday, April 7, 1989, is designated as ROSE SANDECKI DAY in
Contra Costa County and that all citizens join in honoring her
and observing her contribution to the understanding and
rehabilitation of those veterans to whom she ministers.
