HomeMy WebLinkAboutRESOLUTIONS - 03281989 - 89-184 JS IN THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS OF CONTRA COSTA COUNTY, STATE OF CALIFORNIA In the Matter of Honoring ) Shell Oil Company for Their) Resolution No. 89/ 184 Extraordinary Safety Record) WHEREAS, Shell Oil Company and its employees are being honored for their extraordinary safety record; and WHEREAS, On April 3, 1989, Shell Oil Company's Martinez Manufacturing Complex employees received Shell Oil Company's prestigious "Safety Award for Excellence" in recognition of its employees' excellent health and safety performance, for being the safest large refinery in the company over the years, and in recognition of this outstanding health and safety record, they are deserving of special recognition and commendations from the people of California; and WHEREAS, Shell Oil Company's Martinez Manufacturing Complex, the longest continuous operating Shell refinery in the nation, has operated in the City of Martinez and County of Contra Costa since 1915, and during that time has always maintained the highest health and safety standards in its operation; and WHEREAS, The Martinez Complex's exceptional safety record has been recognized nationally in the National Petroleum Refiners Association's prestigious Gold Award. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, By the Board of Supervisors of the County of Contra Costa that the Shell Oil Company Martinez Manufacturing Complex and its employees are hereby highly commended for their outstanding safety record as they serve as a model for the entire nation in maintaining the highest health and safety standards in oil refinery operations. PASSED AND ADOPTED by the unanimous vote of the Board on the twenty-eighth day of March, 1989. I hereby certify that the foregoing is a true and correct copy of the resolution entered on the minutes of the Board of Supervisors on the date aforesaid.
