HomeMy WebLinkAboutRESOLUTIONS - 03211989 - 89-170 IN THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS OF CONTRA COSTA COUNTY, STATE OF CALIFORNIA In the matter urging the ) Governor to keep the ) RESOLUTION NO. 89/ 170 National Guard Armories ) Open to the Homeless ) Through April 30, 1989 ) WHEREAS, the need for emergency shelters for the homeless is still a pressing matter in our communities; and WHEREAS, there are thousands of homeless people throughout the state who will be forced back to the streets if the National Guard Armories are closed prematurely; and WHEREAS, Contra Costa County has been making a good faith effort to explore alternatives to the armories; and WHEREAS, Contra Costa County needs at least six more weeks to develop alternatives to the National Guard Armories; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of Supervisors of Contra Costa. County hereby asks Governor George Deukmejian to require the National Guard Armories to remain open until April 30, 1989; and BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Governor lifts the weather requirements for the opening of the armories to homeless people.
