HomeMy WebLinkAboutRESOLUTIONS - 03141989 - 89-166 IN THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS OF CONTRA COSTA COUNTY, STATE OF CALIFORNIA IN THE MATTER OF ) supporting the National Park) Service Environmental Impact) Statement Alternative, A ) RESOLUTION NO. 89/166 WHEREAS, Tao House, a National Historic Site, is located in Contra Costa County; and WHEREAS, the National Park Service has through research and public hearing drafted an Environmental Impact Statement and General Management Plan which details four alternative plans for the development of Tao House; and WHEREAS, the National Park Service requests comments on the plan by March 15th regarding the four alternatives; and WHEREAS, the National Park Service prefers Alternative A which pro- vides for: o full public access via the Clipper Hill/Kuss Road Route as as recommended by the Town of Danville o removal of the non-historic structure to restore the historic scene o development and renovation of existing structures for administra- tive, artistic and visitor uses o small scale theatrical performances, seminars and a residential artis-in-residence program; and WHEREAS, the development of Tao House as described in Alternative A would be an asset to the cultural resources for the residents of Contra Costa County and the nation for generations to come. , NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of Supervisors of Contra Costa County supports Alternative A of the Environmental Impact Statement and General Management Plan of the National Park Service for the Eugene O'Neill National Historic Site, Tao House, and supports the efforts of the National Park Service and the Eugene O'Neill Foundation, in its desire to create a memorial to playwright Eugene O'Neill and as a center for the performing arts. PASSED AND ADOPTED by unanimous vote of the Board members present on this 14th day of March, 1989.
