CONTRA COSTA COUNTY, STATE OF CALIFORNIA
In the Matter of the 50th )
Wedding Anniversary of ) RESOLUTION NO. 89/ 76
Mr. & Mrs. Charles E. Brown. )
WHEREAS Charles E. Brown, retired Chief of Police of the
City of Richmond, and his wife Fay will celebrate their 50th
Wedding Anniversary on February 13 , 1989; and
WHEREAS Charles, a native of Ogden, Utah, first met his
future wife during a visit with relatives in the City of Richmond
and, after completion of service with the United States Navy,
returned to Richmond to marry Fay upon her graduation from
Richmond High School; and
WHEREAS Charles, known as "the original Charlie Brown" ,
joined the City of Richmond Police Department as a patrolman in
1942 , was appointed Chief of Police in 1955 and served as Chief
until his retirement in 1968, served as a member of the California
State Parole Board, and recently completed a term as Chairman of
the Contra Costa County Parole Board; and
WHEREAS Fay, shortly after her birth in Cripple Creek,
Colorado, moved with her family to Richmond, California where she
attended public schools, was active with her husband in many local
community organizations; and
WHEREAS Charles and Fay as well as their children and
grandchildren continue to be residents of Contra Costa County;
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Contra Costa
County Board of Supervisors EXTENDS its sincere congratulations to
Charles and Fay Brown upon the occasion of their Golden Wedding
Anniversary, and WISHES them continued good health and happiness.
PASSED on February 7, 1989 by unanimous vote of the
mmb-ers present.
