Naming the Discovery Bay ) RESOLUTION NO. 88/374
Community Park after )
Ed Cornell )
WSEREAS, the dedication ceremony for the Discovery Bay
community park will take place on Monday, July 4, 1988;
WHEREAS, the M-8 Citizens Advisory Committee and the
Discovery Bay Property Owners Asociation have endorsed a proposal to
name the park after Ed Cornell who has earned the respect of the
entire community for his devotion and commitment toward the betterment
of his community;
WHEREAS, Ed has served on many subcommittees of the
Discovery Bay Property Owners Association and has devoted countless
hours as a volunteer while also serving on the M-8 Citizens Advisory
Committee;
WHEREAS, Ed was the Founder and first President of the
Discovery Bay Lions Club, an accomplishment which many people felt
would be impossible;
WHEREAS, among his many projects, he has organized boat
shows to earn money for the Community Center that will eventually be
built in the park;
WHEREAS, Ed Cornell is recognized by the Discovery Bay
community for his diligence and hard work in monitoring and ensuring
the completion of the community park;
NOW, TSERF.F'ORE, BE IT RESOLVED THAT THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS
OF CONTRA COSTA COUNTY, CALIFORNIA, does hereby name the Discovery Bay
Community Park, the "Ed Cornell Park" in recognition of Ed Cornell' s
unrelenting devotion to his community and particularly for his hard
work and dedicated commitment toward the completion of the community
park.
PASSED by unanimous vote of the Board Members present on
this 28th Day of June, 1988.
I hereby certify that the foregoing is a true and correct
copy of an order entered on the minutes of said Board of Supervisors
