WHEREAS the Republic of China was founded on the basis of the "Three Principles of the People" - a government of the people, by the people, and for the people; and WHEREAS the Republic of China' s leading industries are construction, textiles, electronics, petroleum, shipbuilding, food processing, metals, chemicals, and machinery; and WHEREAS the United States is the Republic of China' s leading trade partner with a two-way volume of more than $24 billion in 1986; and WHEREAS Contra Costa County has enjoyed a Sister County relationship with Taichung County, Taiwan, Republic of China. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Boardo Supervisors . hereby PROCLAIMS June 20, 1988 as "Republic of Chin Day" in Contra Costa County and ENCOURAGES all citizens to take-part in this most significant day. PASSED AND ADOPTED on June 21 , 1988 , by unanimous vote of the Board members present.
