THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS OF CONTRA COSTA COUNTY, CALIFORNIA

RESOLUTION NO. 88/302
SUBJECT: Declaring Giant Highway, in the City of Richmond, to be
County Highway (Str. & H.C. § 1700)
The County proposes, in connection with its West County
Justice Center project, to realign Giant Highway, which is a city
street within the City of Richmond; and
The County currently is in the process of acquiring the
right-of-way for the realignment of said street and of
constructing it; and
Pending acquisition of title to said right-of-way, the
County proposes to establish the realigned street as a county
highway for various purposes; and
Once the right-of-way has been acquired by the County, and
the new highway has been completed, the County intends to
relinquish said county highway to the City.
NOW, THEREFORE, THE BOARD RESOLVES AS FOLLOWS:
1 . This Board deems it for the best interest of the County
of Contra Costa that the portion of Giant Highway described below
be declared to be a county Highway; and
2. This Board hereby declares the portion of Giant Highway
described below to be a county Highway for the purposes of
acquisition 'of. right-of-way, construction, maintenance,
improvement, and repair, pursuant to Streets and Highways section
1700; and
3. That portion of Giant Highway Road within the City of
Richmond declared to be a county highway is more particularly
described on Exhibit A, attached hereto and incorporated herein
by this reference, entitled "NEW GIANT HIGHWAY RIGHT-OF-WAY"; and
4. The Clerk of the Board is hereby directed to cause a ,
certified copy of this Resolution to be filed in the office of
the County Recorder and a copy to be forwarded to the governing
body of the City of Richmond for its consent, pursuant to Streets
and Highways section 1701; and
5. Upon the adoption by the governing body of the City of
Richmond of an ordinance or resolution consenting to the
establishment of said County highway, said portion of Giant
Highway shall become a county highway for the purposes of
acquisition of right-of-way, construction, maintenance,,-
improvement, and repair. t hereby certify that this is a true and correct copy of
an action taken and entered on the-minutes of the
Board of Supe sora on the date shown.
