HomeMy WebLinkAboutRESOLUTIONS - 03151988 - 88-125 THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS OF CONTRA COSTA COUNTY, STATE OF CALIFORNIA In the Matter of Designation of the Week of March 13 as "Honor RESOLUTION NO. 88/125 the Irish Week" WHEREAS for time immemorial the date of March 17th, designated as Saint Patrick' s Date, is special to the Irish and others of good spirit; WHEREAS the Irish are worthy of honor and recognitions as true patriots having participated in the American Revolution and the political development of this great nation to a notable degree; WHEREAS the Irish with their fighting spirit, bravery and commitment have served their country at time of war throughout our history; WHEREAS the Emerald Isle and its people are lovers of legend, fantasy, poetry and literature, and have thereby contributed to our cultural heritage and imagination; WHEREAS the Irish, through good taste and example taught us to appreciate the humble potato; WHEREAS Contra Costa County has been served well by the descendents of these great people; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED THAT THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS OF THE COUNTY OF CONTRA COSTA hereby DESIGNATES the week of March 13th as "Honor the Irish Week in Contra Costa County. " BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED THAT THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS DETERMINES that the week of March 13th is to be celebrated in the' traditional manner of "wearing the green. " PASSED on March 15, 1988, by unanimous vote of the Board Members present. I hereby certify that the foregoing is a true and correct copy of a resolution entered in the minutes of the Board of Supervisors on the date aforesaid.
