Walter G. Treanor for Outstanding) Resolution No. 87/311
Service to Contra Costa County )
WHEREAS, Walter G. Treanor has honorably and
efficiently served as a member of the County Civil Service
Commission from Agusut 9 , 1966 and served as its President during
the years 1969 through 1978, 1980, and 1981; and
WHEREAS, Walter G. Treanor provided a significant
contribution and invaluable assistance to Contra Costa County
during the establishment and implementation of the Merit System;
and
WHEREAS, he was appointed to the Contra Costa County
Merit Board and has served as its chairman since it was established
on July 1, 1981 providing outstanding leadership and direction; and
WHEREAS, Walt and his wife, Betty, have lived in Contra
Costa County since 1959 with their family, which includes one son,
a daughter and four grandchildren; and
WHEREAS, Walter G. Treanor has rendered exemplary
honorable service to both the citizens of Contra Costa County- in
the capacity of Commissioner, Vice President and President of the
Civil Service Commission and Chairman of the Merit Board and to his
country as a combat officer on an LST and LSM-R in the Navy during
World War II ;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of
Supervisors of Contra Costa County, California, ACKNOWLEDGES the
outstanding and dedicated contribution of Walter G. Treanor to
Contra Costa County; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Board EXTENDS to Mr.
Treanor its appreciation for his competency, professional expertise
and compassion that he consistently demonstrates as a member of the
Contra Costa County Merit Board.
PASSED by unanimous vote of the Board Members present on
June 9, 1987.
I hereby certify that the foregoing is a true and
correct copy of a resolution entered on the minutes of said Board
of Supervisors on the date aforesaid.
