HomeMy WebLinkAboutRESOLUTIONS - 05191987 - 87-302 IN THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS OF CONTRA COSTA COUNTY, STATE OF CALIFORNIA In the Matter of Congratulating ) Margaret DePriester ) Resolution No. 87/302 Moraga Citizen of the Year, 1987 ) WHEREAS Margaret DePriester has been selected as Moraga' s ninth Citizen of the Year; and WHEREAS Margaret DePriester, and her husband;, Coral, have resided in Moraga for nineteen years, where they raised their children, Susan and Bruce; and WHEREAS Margaret DePriester taught elementary school and then plunged into volunteer service in Moraga; and WHEREAS Margaret DePriester was named Distinguished Woman of the Year in 1975 by the Orinda-Moraga-Lafayette Branch of the American Association of University Women, honoring her outstanding initiative and achievement; and WHEREAS Margaret DePriester was appointed to the Moraga Planning Commission in 1975, too, and chaired the Commission in 1979 when the Town' s General Plan was adopted; and WHEREAS Margaret DePriester sought and won election to the Moraga Town Council in 1980, and was reelected in 1984; and WHEREAS Margaret DePriester generally plans a full day and night of Town business and service on Town and County commissions resolving solid waste and transportation dilemmas, needs of the elderly, problems of young people involved in drug and alcohol abuse and the unseen needy in our community; and WHEREAS Margaret DePriester started Moraga Beautiful Week, which reflects her Native American sense that we must be gentle stewards of the land, NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of Supervisors of the County of Contra Costa, California hereby CONGRATULATES Margaret DePriester on her selection as Moraga Citizen of the Year, Commends her untiring efforts as an exemplary elected official; and THANKS her for her contributions. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Board EXTENDS to Margaret DePriester its best wishes for much further personal and civic accomplishment. Passed and adopted on May 19, 1987, by unanimous vote of the Board members present. I hereby certify that the foregoing is a true and correct copy of a resolution entered in the minutes of the Board of Supervisors on the date aforesaid.
