HomeMy WebLinkAboutRESOLUTIONS - 05201986 - 86-285 X.1-L IN THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS OF CONTRA COSTA COUNTY, STATE OF CALIFORNIA In the Matter of Congratulating) Margaret "Maggie" Skinner ) Resolution No. 86/285 Moraga Citizen of the Year,1986) WHEREAS Maggie Skinner has been selected as Moraga' s eighth Citizen of the Year; and WHEREAS Maggie Skinner and her husband, Stanley, have been residents of Moraga since 1968, and have two sons, Steven and Ronald; and WHEREAS Maggie Skinner regretted that Moraga did not have a library of its own, and joined the Moraga Community Association, which was studying a new library; and WHEREAS Maggie Skinner chaired the new library' s site selection/building design committee, the work of which resulted in a handsome, comfortable and exceptionally inviting library ambiance; and WHEREAS Maggie Skinner worked on the Book Fair for the Friends of the Moraga Library for eighteen years, and chaired the book sorting committee for six years; and WHEREAS Maggie Skinner sensed that Moraga' s recorded past would slip away and set about organizing Brother Dennis ' and other citizens ' collections of historical records, documents and memorabilia; and WHEREAS Maggie Skinner dedicated uncountable hours to setting up the Moraga Archives in the Moraga Library where maps, files, grant deeds, oral histories, cattle brands, newspaper articles and other tangible mementos of Moraga' s rich historical past can be studied and examined; and WHEREAS Maggie Skinner offered her time and talents to her sons ' schools as a Spanish teacher and computer tutor, to the Boy Scouts and to her church; and WHEREAS Maggie Skinner is a remarkable example of the quintessential full-time volunteer and mother; NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of Supervisors of the County of Contra Costa, California hereby CONGRATULATES Maggie Skinner upon her selection as Moraga Citizen of the Year and COMMENDS her exceptional diligence in preserving Moraga' s recorded history through her ongoing work at the Moraga Archives. PASSED AND ADOPTED on May 20, 1986, by unanimous vote of the Board members present. I hereby certify that the foregoing is a true and correct copy of a resolution entered in the minutes of the Board of Supervisors on the date aforesaid.
