HomeMy WebLinkAboutRESOLUTIONS - 04291986 - 86-245 IN THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS OF CONTRA COSTA COUNTY, STATE OF CALIFORNIA In the Matter of Proclaiming ) the Week of May 4-10, 1986 as ) RESOLUTION NO. 86/245 "Hire a Veteran Week" ) WHEREAS the American people have a special obligation to those who served in the Armed Forces and risked their lives to defend our Nation' s freedom and honor; and WHEREAS these veterans, particularly the Vietnam era veterans, who bore the brunt of our involvement in an unforgettable war, bear a disproportionate share of the unemployment that exists today, and now deserve our best efforts to help them find jobs and permanent careers as civilians; and WHEREAS job prospects for the many disabled Vietnam era veterans in particular are a special concern because their access to suitable employment is more limited; NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of Supervisors of Contra Costa County hereby PROCLAIMS the week of May 4 through 10, 1986 as "Hire a Veteran Week" in Contra Costa County and CALLS upon all citizens, especially employers, to assist and cooperate in developing job opportunities for our veterans. PASSED on April 299 1986 by unanimous vote of the Board members present. I hereby certify that the foregoing is a true and correct copy of an order entered on the minutes of said Board of Supervisors on the date aforesaid.
