HomeMy WebLinkAboutRESOLUTIONS - 04011986 - 86-156 THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS OF CONTRA COSTA COUNTY, CALIFORNIA In the Matter of: ) Support of Benicia Bridge ) RESOLUTION NO. 86/156 Traffic Flow Improvement ) WHEREAS traffic volume on the George Miller, Jr. (Benicia) Bridge and its approaches causes serious congestion and delays during high traffic periods; and WHEREAS such bridge traffic has increased eight percent annually; and WHEREAS CALTRANS' proposed span widening project has a three-year completion date with no relief for impacted traffic before that time; and WHEREAS all other forms of relief should be considered in order to increase the flow of traffic across the bridge during this three-year period; and WHEREAS trial toll-free periods should be included among those methods of increasing the efficiency of the bridge; and WHEREAS the County of Solano and the cities of Benicia and Martinez are requesting that CALTRANS investigate all methods possible to increase the movement of traffic along the Highway 680 corridor and across the bridge; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT BY THE CONTRA COSTA COUNTY BOARD OF SUPERVISORS RESOLVED that it supports the Benicia Bridge traffic flow improvement requests and that trial toll-free periods during periods of severe traffic congestion should be considered. PASSED by unanimous vote of the Board Members present on this 1st day of April, 1986.
